On 27 March 2026, the Prins Claus Concert returns to the Oosterpoort in Ad Astra - A Voyage Beyond Sound, a musical journey that celebrates the past, present, and future. The Hanze Symphonic Jazz Orchestra, a unique ensemble of students across many genres, will perform a program of new compositions under the baton of renowned UK-based conductor and artist Simon Dobson.

‘Ad Astra’ celebrates the 60th anniversary of the conservatoire in a concert for the present and the future, an evening to hear music from today by composers who are shaping the field of tomorrow. Trumpeter Suzan Veneman and vocalist Hiske Oosterwijk, alumni of the Prins Claus Conservatorium, appear as featured composers and soloists. They are joined by soloist Liam De Molenaer and current Music Composition and Production student, Deborah De Graaf, who will premiere a new composition of her own.

The program features imaginative arrangements of music from influential artists Snarky Puppy, Joni Mitchell, Weezer, and Radiohead, to be performed by the Orchestra. Students from Minerva Art Academy will also join the performances, lending their skills in technical design to weave tapestries of light and visual effects to accompany the music.
Students from the Harens Lyceum will also contribute to this jubilee programme with a choir performance.
Come and experience an evening of music and light, where the past, present, and future converge, blending melodies of yesteryear and today with harmonies of tomorrow. Join us as we look to the horizon in a journey beyond sound.
