Composition & Music Production student Rutger Bandell organises the second edition of the tiny desk studio recording sessions on June 11th, at the Prins Claus Conservatorium.

What to expect? The studio’s live room will be equipped with recording gear and
instruments: a drum kit, (bass)guitar amp, grand piano, nord keyboard and a bunch of
microphones. There will be camera operators as well to capture professional footage of
the performances. It’s meant to facilitate all bands/ensembles that will perform on this
day, even if it contains dicerent instruments or setups. After the event, all acts can get the
raw audio- and video footage to make a Tiny Desk-esque video for themselves!

If you’re interested in seeing other students’ ensembles perform, you can! There will be a
bit of space for an audience within the liveroom, but it’s also possible to listen to the
performance through the live mix that can be heard in the controlroom. The doors will be
open during the whole event, so please come by!

Each performance has a maximum length of 12 minutes. This way we can have three
ensembles per hour, considering there is some time needed to switch acts, as well as
setting up the microphones and soundchecking for the next round.
Students from all departments of the Prins Claus Conservatorium are very much welcome! And if your ensembles’ instruments fit through the studio door, we can make it happen!

To facilitate the professionalism of the event, €30 to €50 will be charged for each
individual timeslot. The total sum of expenses will be devided among all participating
ensembles. These expenses include: renting necessary equipment, hiring camera
operators, compensating Minerva students for transforming the studio, food for the
people assisting during the event, etc.

Please notice that this project is an opportunity to collaborate with dicerent departments,
to introduce original music and to share it with the rest of the world! Don’t hesitate to ask
musicians. If you can write, arrange, and rehearse together, the possibilities are endless!
Note that collaborating will also count as bonus points for when there is a surplus of
registrations!

Last year was a great success, but sadly the content that was made on the day itself
wasn’t used by a lot of people. Because of this, the event will prioritise ensembles that
have plans for their performance and the content that is created with it.

If you want to be part of this incredible event and you have gathered your ensemble and
repertoire, or if you’re convinced you can arrange these things in time, sign up through the form linked below.
