- Person
Guy Wood (1982) is a British drummer, producer, and composer, with extensive experience in soundtracks for video, film, and television. As a teacher, coach and facilitator, he firmly believes in the unifying power of music.
At the age of four, Guy first sat behind a drum kit, setting the course for his future. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz and an MA in Leadership from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Over the years, his role has evolved from band member to co-creator and socially engaged artist, using his work to promote mutual understanding and connection. He is co-founder of WW Records, a core faculty member of the NAIP European Music Masters, and artistic director of The Mystifiers Foundation, an organization that helps marginalized people reconnect with society through music. His style combines rhythmic precision and dance influences with contemporary jazz and classical music. Guy has more than fifteen years of experience composing original soundtracks, has worked with artists such as Onallee, Mark Van Roon, Aisa Ijiri, and Stateless, and can be heard as a session drummer on albums by Alice Russell, Mick Jones, and Kidkanevil. In addition, he leads creative music workshops for international institutions, organizations, and conservatories.
Guy finds inspiration in drummers like Tony Williams, John Bonham, Elvin Jones, Tony Allen, and Ginger Baker. He sees the collective exploration of rhythms as a personal process that can lead to confidence and healing. “I feel blessed to be a musician. Music is the indescribable force that connects our physical existence with our emotional life. It brings people together and transcends boundaries. As a teacher, I am particularly interested in non-hierarchical methods, where inspiration and knowledge flow freely between teacher and student, allowing both to learn and grow.”
